South Park Logo The area of South Park is confined by Ninth Street to the north, the 10 Freeway to the south, Broadway to the east and the 110 Freeway to the west.  South Park is most famous for the old Morrison Hotel, which was immortalized on the famous Doors album cover.

But there didn't used to be much in the way of quaint window-shopping or sidewalk cafes in the area. That's changing, and it's helped, ironically, by southern Downtown's fearless sense of size. Thanks to huge industrial and office buildings that are transforming into lofts and condos, there's an injection of street life in the area.

The neighborhood of South Park will be a haven for all socio-economic status people who want to rent or buy.  There are plenty of religious communities, community centers, healthcare facilities, and emergency car facilities that serve the entire Los Angeles County.

The behemoth Los Angeles Convention Center, built in 1971 and expanded twice since, was once the anchor of the area. The newer apex is the flashy Staples Center, home to the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Sparks and Avengers, plus concerts and circuses when the athletes are resting. These two attractions help in drawing in people who are interested in sports, entertainment, consumer shows, meeting facilities, conventions and trade shows; which means all the amenities necessary to meet the needs of those attending the events are a necessity in this neighborhood.

Hotels fan out from these two points, as do unexpected pockets such as Grand Hope Park, one of South Park's early-'90s beautification projects. Lounging in and around it creatively dressed students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, located on the Grand Avenue side of the park.  South Park has become an educational and professional development area for the fashion industry and other rapidly growing multi-industry business center.  The district is changing rapidly. Dozens of new high-rise condo and apartment complexes are springing up, or are planned, and a $2.5 billion entertainment complex called L.A. Live is set to transform the area next to Staples Center with movie theaters, restaurants and clubs.
